The project
A small tomb at Kafkalla, at the northwest edge of Ayios Georghios village, was excavated in 1964 as a rescue for the Department of Antiquities1. It contained only White-Painted IV, Bichrome IV and Black-on-Red II pottery1. Karageorghis noted that the site had already produced good examples of the orientalizing style in Cypro-Archaic pottery1. A Bichrome IV kylix from the tomb carries two facing bulls on either side of a large lotus flower, on both faces1. The material was then in the Famagusta Regional Museum, inventory 1571.
