The project
Two tombs found in Ayios Epiktitos village, numbered 27 and 28, were reported for 19711. Tomb 27 contained pottery of ordinary ware1. Tomb 28 had been robbed but still held medieval pottery, and its earliest burial produced a pair of iron lamp-stands, iron lamps and iron strigils1. Karageorghis's chronicle lists the material under the Kyrenia Regional Museum1. The Department of Antiquities was probably the sponsor, since the chronicle reports that it undertook rescue operations and small excavations across the island1.
