The project
Giorgos Georgiou directed a salvage excavation for the Department of Antiquities in plot 659 at Alaminos-Kampos, near Alaminos, from 22 June to 17 July 2009, after an application for building development1. The report says the plot group had been declared Ancient Monuments of Second Schedule in 2007 because remains of an Early and Middle Bronze Age settlement were preserved there1. Test trenches were dug across the plot; some were sterile and others showed human activity1. One trench contained wall remains, in poor condition and set in shallow stratigraphy, and pottery dated them to the Early and Middle Bronze Age1. The floor installations were reported as of the same type as those at Marki-Alonia1.
