Standing woman with a cantharos (drinking vessel)
Description: | Standing woman with a cantharos (drinking vessel) The female counterpart to the Archaische Greek Kuros is the Kore, a woman in the bloom of her youth.Like the Kuroi, the corses can usually only be interpreted as a representation of mortals (consecration or grave statues) or as reproduction of gods because of their installation or former use.A long adherence to the archaic design language is also characteristic of the Cypric Cores.Frontal standing woman on a slightly beveled, cuboid -shaped plinth. The head is covered by a veil -like headscarf that is set off by the forehead with a sharp edge.Above it hangs eight spirally twisted hair braids, which step out of the headscarf on the part of the head and turn into a snail over the forehead. The hair falls down in the back. The face looks almost metallic due to the vaulted eyebrows and the sharply cut, large eyes; The mouth with the sharpened lips is relatively small, but the chin is striking. The small, conical breasts are particularly emphasized on the flat, board -like body. The long -sleeved, wrinkle -free robe with an arch -shaped rollover ranges to the bare, closed feet. The lowered right is tightly placed on the body with stretched fingers, the angled left holds a cantharos -like container in the hollow hand, the handle of which ends in lily -like flowers. The statuette is particularly excellent with its rich jewelry: it wears a collar, two necklaces and chest and earrings. The collar consists alternately of four -row pearl chains and rectangular, plate -shaped elements. The plate in the middle is also highlighted by four drop -shaped pendants and an in -depth, bright sun disk in the center. The second and the third chain are formed from biconic limbs with a drop -shaped or spherical pendant with a wide, band -shaped version. The breast jewelry consists of a large, disc -shaped trailer with a radiation wreath that comes from a hemispherical elevation in the middle.A horizontal sleeve is set up on the trailer, through which a strap -like band is led.The ears are adorned with the so -called earrings characteristic of Cyprical earrings, which are stuck over the upper part of the auricle and are probably made of metal;A loop -shaped trailer on the underside.
