Description:

Terracotta figure of centaur with doe over left shoulder with traces of painted decoration; largely hand moulded but the face may be from a mould; his upper human body turns to the left holding the deer on his left shoulder; tail is extended; human genitals; all the feet are equine in form; coarse red-brown clay with a buff surface; body originally covered in white with black detailing on the hair and eyes and striped along the shoulders, back and legs of the creature; red paint on the deer and down the front of the human end of the figurine; Cypriot manufacture.
