Terracotta Lion Figurine
Terracotta figurine of a lion; hollow hand-made body with applied details; the animal is shown facing forward, with a gaping mouth; he is crouching on its rear legs, with its tail curling along the right back leg and up onto its back; the front paws are incised to indicate digits (the back toes are painted); applied clay ridges on both sides of the lower neck of uncertain function; made of buff clay decorated with black and purple paint: stripes on the body, large almond-shaped eyes in black; one of the ears is damaged, and the surface is worn throughout.
