Black-On-Red Juglet

Description:

Pottery juglet in Black-on-Red ware; wheelmade; biconical body on a raised disc base, concave underneath; nrrow tubular neck with a disc mouth; single stra-like handle, oval section, from shoulder to rim. Made of buff clay covered in an irregularly-fired reddish slip, decorated with black-brown paint: wide and narrow bands on the body. Paint very worn in places, almost down to the clay on the shoulder, also numerous small cracks in the vessel.
