Pregnant Woman Figurine
Terracotta figurine of a seated pregnant woman of the dea gravida type; mould-made with a bivalve mould; depicts a seated female dressed in a long, but sheer robe emphasising the breasts and swollen belly; her right hand rests on her bulging stomach; the other hand on her left knee; semi-circular face with an elaborate coiffure covered with a veil, the hair beneath bound up in two large clumps on each side of the temples; buff clay, decorated with faded red paint, indicating skin colour and jewellery around the neck.
