Description:

Pottery oinochoe or jug with figural decoration in Bichrome ware; ovoid body on a low ring base; wide neck with a trefoil mouth; short handle from shoulder to rim; buff clay and slip, decorated in black to purple and red paint: a fantastic, highly stylised bird in Free Field style facing the right, drawn in outline with a purple centre and hatched wings; chevrons in the open field; a pair of eyes on the spout; bands on the neck, with a single wavy line; ladder pattern and Union Jack motif on the handle, with two hooks descending from the base; swastikas in the field behind the bird's head; surface very abraded.
