Description:

Large pottery stamnos or wide-mouthed jar in Black-on-Red ware; wheel-made; deep body, slightly angular at the top and bottom, on a turned ring base; narrow, flat disc-like rim; pair of opposing double-loop handles in quasi-zoomorphic form; orange-yellow clay and orange-red slip, decorated in black paint: on both sides of the body are panels comprising latticed chequer-board between vertical parallel; horizontal bands of fine parallel lines around the body; on the rim, groups of transverse strokes at intervals; solid handles.
