Description:

Pottery amphora in transiitonal Proto-White Painted/White Painted I ware; globular-biconical body on a splaying foot (concave underneath); tall, wide cylindrical neck with an everted rim, chamfered on the inside; vertical handles from shoulder to rim; cream clay (gritty with small black inclusions) and slip, decorated in black paint: parallel bands around the body, inside and out; a frieze of stylised plant motifs on the shoulder, with a pair of wavy lines above between the handles on both sides; series of short strokes on the rim and handles, solid foot; part of the rim and neck is missing and surface is quite worn.
