White Painted Two-Handled Jar

Description:

Pottery two-handed jar in Proto-White Painteds or White Painted ware; wheel-made; globular-ovoid body on a low foot; concave neck with a flaring mouth (plain rim); pair of opposing basket handles. Made of orange-buff clay, with a cream ground and painted decorated fired unevenly to a black and reddish-orange colour: solid neck, below which are horizonral bands, with two wide wavy lines pained horizontally on the shoulder; also bands below and at the base of the vessel; handles solid black paint. at the ebasebelow asolid black paint on the handles. Surface worn and mouth chipped.
