Description:

Pottery White Slip II (Early) tankard; hand-made; neck slightly tapering to everted rim with flat top edge; little differentiation between neck and globular body join; ring base; vertical strap handle with horned thumb projection from rim to shoulder; matt cream slip with thick dark brown painted decoration; neck with three sets of vertical framed double hatched lozenges with horizontal dotted band and vertical lozenge rows between; vertical row of hatched diamonds under handle; body with horizontal lattice with pendant alternating lattice and framed hatched lozenges; at front of body two vertical lozenge rows with arcs and dots; net pattern on base; vertical wavy lines down handle exterior; rim and neck interior with dotted bands, framed double lines and wavy lines.
