Base Ring Female Figure
Terracotta female figure holding infant; Base Ring II ware; hand-made; flattened, solid construction; two double pierced ears, originally with hanging circular ear-rings, not preserved; beak-shaped nose and applied pellets for eyes; short body with exaggerated hips, tapering to pointed feet; arms sticking out at angle to body and hands clasping the stylised infant to her chest, left forearm missing; incised detail of horizontal bands around neck, strokes and chevrons on pubic triangle; vertical incised line indicating legs, fingers also delineated.
