White Slip Ware Jug
Pottery White Slip II ware jug; hand-made; ovoid body on a narrow, flat but slightly concave base; wide, concave neck with everted rim and trefoil spout; vertical strap handle from rim to shoulder; coarse, brown-orange clay to grey (irregularly fired) with a cream-white slip, decorated in matt reddish-brown paint: vertical rows of hatched ladders and lozenges on the body hanging from a hatched ladder running around the shoulder, on the neck, bands of horizontal parallel lines above which are groups of vertical parallel strokes at intervals; zig-zag motif on handle; interior of rim with groups of vertical parallel lines; handle repaired but slip is missing in one place showing fabric.
