White Painted Terracotta Figurine
Handmade terracotta figurine of a naked woman in White Painted ware; flat, plank-shaped body with undulating sides, schematically indicating the hips, arms, shoulders and head; large beak nose flanked by eyes rendered as painted dots; large ears, each perforated three times for suspending jewellery; arms are held at the navel beneath the naked breasts; flat base with no feet indicated; buff clay decorated in matt black paint: parallel lines enclosing zig-zags in registers along the front of the body, groups of parallel lines down the back, bands on the top of the head, along with the curved profile, may indicate some form of headdress.
