ENK 1960 keep with excavation notebook

Engomi 11 Sept. (1960)

Sir

Our first week of excavations is finished and I hasten to send you this short report so that you will find it on your arrival at Beirut. Mission — Michaël having been placed at our disposal I was able to prepare the campaign normally. At Nicosia I was in contact with Mr Karageorghis, replacing Mr Dikaios on holiday. My work has been in this respect greatly facilitated because our friend who since the departure of Mr Megaw has held the post of director of the museum, future Director of Antiquities, the other curator having been expelled for pro-English sentiments. The Forrers arrived on the 3rd, Contenson on the 6th. I was able to rent for them a house of 3 rooms
