251/2 j. f.Friday 8 Nov.Fine Photogr. of the bronzes t. 110 and 126 at the washing, in fourbeur. - De Contenson leaves 3 h. visit of Mr Lapierre, Cons. Larn. + 41/4 Mr Megaw. He speaks to me about the question of division and remett list of tombs to be divided, and proposes to keep Tbe 2 + 5 for Mus. Tout Everything depends on what he proposes of the other important objects. But his idea of "balancing" the excavator's lot with future finds as he proposed is obviously unacceptable. I fear that he wants to evade the present difficulties in this way; but the problem will remain the same, for of new finds, he would want also or his successor to keep the essentials. Then if in the future the law on antiquities changed by following the organisation of a Greek admin., nothing more would come out and nothing could complete the excavator's lot present. He should therefore not remain "creditor" for the future I think at night that I must "visualise" the objects "outstanding", "exceptional", "important", [illegible] and "ordinary" on two lists, one Cypr. Mus. and the other "excavator", to make the division clearly apparent division. -
