Mr Prof. Dr. H.-J. HUNDT Roman-Germanic Central Museum Ernst-Ludwig-Square 2 4/10 M A I N Z Germany
Dear Dr. Hundt!
I am coming back to my letter of a short while ago, in which I asked you whether and when you come to Paris (as Joffroy told me) and whether and when I could collect, or have collected, the last Enkomi bronzes from your institute (from Lagarce). In principle I was to deliver these in October to the Nicosia Museum. Of course, if something is not ready, the Cypriots will simply have to wait. In July and August I am at my Vosges house near Colmar and could perhaps collect the bronzes myself from there, of course only if I had the joy and opportunity of seeing you again myself.
My niece Mrs Kron-Forrer, 44 Dehnhardstr., 6 Frankfurt 50, who is a member of our expedition, could make a drawing of the little cult wagon, so that it can soon be published. The find has already aroused much interest and I must therefore announce it as soon as possible. May I ask you to give Mrs Kron-Forrer the opportunity to draw the little wagon in your laboratory. She will contact you by telephone. Many thanks in advance.
In Volume II of Enkomi-Alasia, in which the bronzes are to appear in early 1970 as the definitive publication, I would like to publish the article I asked you for: The Technique of Treatment and Rescue of the Enkomi Bronzes and the observations reported by you and your colleagues in this connection. Would it be possible for you to send me this contribution, which is so valuable for us, by the end of the year? We can still talk about it in Mainz, if I could meet you there. I would attach a French résumé to the study.
With warm greetings. Yours
