6th November, 1962

Professor C. F. A. Schaeffer, Le Castel Blanc, 14 Rue Turgot, St. Germain-en-Laye, France.

Dear Professor Schaeffer,

Thank you for your letter of [illegible] October. I have postponed replying it in the hope that the History of [illegible] would [illegible] while be [illegible]. The [illegible] has not yet been settled and [illegible] outline to [illegible] the [illegible] of the Department.

Let me first thank you for confirming your donation to the Cyprus Museum... [illegible] pottery to the Cyprus Museum... I can understand that you would like to have some of the pieces for your collection at St. Germain for publication. I am writing to Mrs. Stewart and shall ask her to print of existing narratives as soon as they are ready.

As you know Mr. Karageorghis has now started toward the preparation of a catalogue. ... [illegible] ... it would be highly desirable that you add a preface.

The Administration of the University has now decided to recover all departmental material that is in the State of the late Professor Stewart and, with your permission I should like to make arrangements through them for the transportation of the Vounous material back to the University. We should, of course, consult you before sending any pieces to other museums or in all other matters connected with the material and I take note that donations should be labelled "Donation by Professor C. F. A. Schaeffer, Director of the French-Cyprus Expedition, in memory of Professor O. Gjerstad" [illegible].

Can I hope to hear from you as soon as it is convenient?

With kind regards and all good wishes.

Yours sincerely,
