Dear Prof. Schaeffer,
I am dealing here with that part of your letter dated 8th December which concerns the Stylianou gift.
I enclose two photographs. The one shows the four pieces which are of types not represented adequately in the Cyprus Museum, and for which we are not in a position to grant an export permit. The other shows (to a small scale) the remainder of the collection for which an export permit can be issued.
We would wish to come to an arrangement for the acquisition of the former for the Cyprus Museum.
If the gift were accepted and the question arose of studying and publishing the group as a whole, we would not object to the temporary export of the four retained pieces on loan, provided they had meanwhile been acquired by the Cyprus Museum.
