… floor 2, so its dimensions at the time of the floors earlier are unknown.) At the close of the excavation season proper, S. Swiny made a study of the stratigraphy of the (streets?) walls of the town. A section was cut in the North-South street to study the succession of levels, and with the same aim several sections were cleaned and then studied in the East-West streets nos. 2, 3 and 4. The aim of this study was to find evidence proving the "alluvial" stratigraphy of certain levels within the body of the streets. Thanks to a careful comparison of the various sections showing a similar stratification, one can conclude that without any doubt certain levels of the streets were indeed deposited by water. This is proven by layers of sherds a close juxtaposition of layers of sherds, and of bone chips and pebbles uniformly horizontal. The determining factor is that these layers are mixed with sand, whereas the others are always earthy.
