We note the absence of tin, lead, nickel, cobalt.

The preceding analysis can be expressed by the following, which gives the actual composition of the sample:

Silica (SiO²) ..................... 0,20 Alumina (Al²O³) .................. 7,29 Iron sulphide (FeS²) ............. 84,35 Iron sulphate (SO⁴Fe) ............ 4,62 Iron oxide (FeO) ................ 3,34 Lime (CaO) ....................... 0,50 Magnesia (MgO) .................... traces Phosphoric anhydride (P²O⁵) .... 0,023 Arsenic ........................... 0,025

This ore is a slightly altered iron sulphide.

VII.- LIMESTONE CALLED "PHOENICIAN".-

This sample takes the form of a white, polished block, covered with a little copper carbonate.

Analysis:

Carbonic acid (CO²) .......... 46,04 Silica (SiO²) ..................... I,50 Alumina (Al²O³) .................. 0,26 Iron oxide (Fe²O³) ............. 0,90 Lime (CaO) ...................... 30,00 Magnesia (MgO) ................... I9,45 Copper carbonate .............. I,86 Sulphur ............................ 0,09 Phosphorus ......................... 0 Manganese ......................... 0

In fact, we are dealing with a good-quality dolomite, that is a natural carbonate of lime and magnesia covered with a light layer of copper carbonate.
