Ras Shamra Expedition, October 8th, 1964.

Dear Director, thank you very much for your letter of October 1st. I am glad with the postscript and congratulate with my wife Mrs. Professor Karageorghis to her appointment. She will do great service to our mission this country. Glad also that the construction is making good progress and I thank you for looking after the work. I think we can come over for some digging on the site towards Nov. 14th. Probably I can send over M. Kiss (+ his wife), M. Courtois & Mrs Nicolardot a few days earlier. I myself have to take the boat with Mrs Schaeffer & the landrover : the Bernina arriving Famagusta on Nov. 14th at 6 a.m. Would be thankful to inform customs also with the car with left hand drive, Mr. Johnstons hardtop (double last year). We cannot work much longer than end of Nov. or some days in December. So if you could lend us the oconsin of Haklaïl that would be fine. I will inform you of exact date of arrival Kiss & party later. - Congratulations on your new Salamis finds, Ail L N. Aug & Sept 5th. Seen in Journal de Bryr. If you should have a copy or extract especially of the page 334 (fig. 8-9 Pale?) I would be grateful. - I am glad to have hope to see you & Cyprus, with all good wishes to you both. Yours sincerely

C. Schaeffer
