Dear Dr. Schaeffer,

I refer to your letter of the 5th October, 1963 in which you request that the French Expedition should no longer be charged with half of the Custodian's yearly salary as until now, but only during its operations in the not yet excavated town area, i.e. for about 2 months each year, and to inform you that the Government of the Republic has decided to pay in full the salary of the Custodian at Enkomi. You may appoint a guard yourself, if you so wish, during the period of your excavations every year.

Yours sincerely,
