Dear Professor Schaeffer,

The year 1974 will mark forty years of excavations at Enkomi, and in this event I would like to be in-focus. I will propose to Government to honour you, as the discoverer of Enkomi and all those who worked at Enkomi since 1934. If you agree with the idea I shall put it forward to Government, by suggesting that you and Madame Schaeffer should be invited officially to spend a week in Cyprus in 1974, which is the time that suits you best? In the beginning of November a suitable period?

My wife joins me in sending you and Madame Schaeffer our best wishes for the New Year.

Yours very sincerely,
