Nicosia, 4 January 1973.

Dear Mr Professor,

I thank you for your letter of 27 December and for the request for extension of the export permi of the antiquities taken away for study.

First of all I hasten to thank you for the warm welcome you gave us in Paris and for the splendid lunch at Rue Univers with the fine view over the Place Royale. We arrived back safely in Cyprus after a three-week journey in France and England. Our stay in France was very pleasant and very fruitful thanks to our French friends and colleagues. Everywhere we met with a warm welcome.

You will surely soon have the photographs of the bronze objects found in the 1965 campaign, as you indicate.

Please accept, dear Sir, as well as Madame Schaeffer, my sentiments and those of my wife, the most distinguished. [handwritten: And a happy new year.]
