Dear Sir,

Thank you for your letter of 16 March. I have replied to you officially regarding Salamis. It will now be for you and Charbonneaux to make a proposal for excavation on this site for 1949 or 1950.

I still have not found the notebook, but I have also been unable to carry out any searches, being overloaded with work. There is no hurry, moreover.

I have received a statement from Mr Abdelnour charging me 11 pounds 25 for various prices of boat and air tickets and 40 pounds 40 for a telegram to Athens. I think you owe these sums to the mission, but as at the current rate this represents a great deal of French money, it would perhaps be preferable for you to repay it at the next mission. Please just note this question in your notebook so that it may be settled later.

I have also received a small sealed parcel from Nicosia, which came with the bronze treasure and which bears "Coche de la Ferté, export licence 2713." Let me know if it is yours; in that case I will deposit it at the Louvre one of these days.

Thank you for your references concerning Mycenaean pottery. While waiting for me to find your copy of the Guide to the Cyprus Museum, I will deposit mine for you at the Louvre on the next occasion. I fear that yours may have remained in the crate deposited at the Nicosia Museum.

Please accept, dear Sir, the expression of my best sentiments.

Mr E. Coche de la Ferté. 4 rue Péron, Paris VI°.
