Dear Sir,

Thank you for your letter of 16 March. I have replied to you officially about Salamis. It will now be for you and Charbonneaux to make a proposal for excavation at this site for 1949 or 1950.

I have still not found the notebook, but I have also been unable to carry out any searches, being overloaded with work. There is no hurry, moreover.

I have received an account from Mr Abdelnour charging me 11 pounds 25 for various prices of boat and plane tickets and 40 pounds 40 for a telegram to Athens. I think you owe these sums to the mission, but as at the current rate this represents a great deal of French money, it would perhaps be preferable for you to repay it at the next mission. Please just note this question in your notebook so that it is settled later.

I have also received a small sealed parcel from Nicosia, which came with the bronze treasure and which bears "Coche de la Ferté, export license 2713." Let me know whether it is yours; if so I will deposit it at the Louvre one of these days.

Thank you for your references concerning Mycenaean pottery. While waiting for me to find your copy of the Cyprus Museum guide, I will deposit mine for you at the Louvre at the next opportunity. I fear that yours may have remained in the crate deposited at the Nicosia Museum.

Please accept, dear Sir, the expression of my best sentiments.

Mr E. Coche de la Ferté, 4 rue Férou, Paris VIe.
