Nicosia, 30th October, 1948.

Thank you for your letter from Alan the end November. I note that we should expect £900 in the course from [illegible] for credit of your account in our Nicosia [illegible] time and in the meantime £400 to cover Goelle's expenses. We look forward to seeing him on the 14th and hope you and Mr Schaeffer will also be revisiting Cyprus shortly.

Dilaos is back now but I have decided not to ask him to start excavating beyond until we know your plans. If you are able to resume your work at Hala Sultan and foresee that you will not be able to excavate at Enkomi this season, then I think Dilaos should take the opportunity to start work in the area adjoining your [illegible] (?) on which we agreed. We have [illegible] [illegible] to reach the area of [illegible].

The acquisition of the plots is proceeding but can only be completed when your funds arrive. The attached sketch plan illustrates the position. I have contacted the Commissioner to request cultivation of the areas [illegible] as soon as they are acquired, as I foresee they will not be affected by the coming season's operations. I hope accordingly I can [illegible] detailed instructions about [illegible] until your reply as the sowing season has now arrived.

Yours sincerely,
