DEPARTMENT OF ANTIQUITIES, CYPRUS.

Nicosia, 24th Sept., 1948.

Dear [illegible],

I am glad to say the acquisition of the plots we agreed on last year now seems to be going through without our going to court, but on the basis of a higher valuation than that originally made.

I enclose a copy of a letter I have written to the Director of Land Registration & Surveys concerning the coming season's crop. You will see from the enclosed letter how I dealt with them and I hope you concur.

Now the plots now to be secured each party has to pay £516.4s.0d. Towards the French Mission's payment we have a balance of £413.19.2 from your last year's deposit. If you can arrange for your Bank here to pay the balance of £301.15.10d I can go ahead with the transfer of the land. Otherwise it will stand over until you arrive in Cyprus.
