Handwritten: Dear Dr Schaeffer,

I am glad to say the acquisition of the plots we agreed on last year now seems to be going through without our going to court, but on the basis of a higher valuation than that originally made.

Some of the owners made difficulties concerning the coming season's crop. You will see from the enclosed letter how I dealt with them and I hope you concur.

For the plots now to be acquired each party has to pay £518.15.0. Towards the French Mission's payment we have a balance of £213.19.2 from your last year's deposit. If you can arrange for your Bank here to pay me the balance of £304.15.7 I can go ahead with the transfer of the land. Otherwise it will stand over until you arrive in Cyprus.

Yours sincerely,
