Dear Mr. Schaeffer,
Thank you for your letter of 15th March, and for the news about the work at Enkomi. I am glad to hear that all is going well, and I hope that we shall be able to visit the site at some time in the summer. I am glad to know that you have decided to go ahead with the new work. I hope we will be able to make some arrangements for the work to go on.
I am sorry to hear of the continued fall of the Franc position, but I look forward to seeing you back at Enkomi if only for a short season in the autumn.
I enclose a copy of the rules for the complete expropriation of the plots on which we need. Expropriation in such matters is often exceedingly slow and I do not imagine that in all cases the stage will be reached this year, where requisite will have to be made. However the Government has made a provisional allocation of £250 to cover the plots which we should perhaps be able to set against the budget for a slightly expenditure, and which we have already a balance of £243.19.3 in our account.
Meanwhile the north quarter has been fenced and Verghis goes down from time to time to inspect and keep the stockman on to the mark. Incidentally I have heard nothing of his objection to Mr. Robinson's to proceed on the assumption that he is.
