Dear Dr. Schaeffer,
Thank you for your letter of 15th March. Mine of the 13th anticipated your enquiry about the collaboration scheme. Dikaios is now back at work but will not be able to attempt field work for some time yet. When I hear from you again on this subject I hope we will be able to make some definite plans.
I am sorry to hear of the curtailment of your credit as a result of the franc position, but we look forward to seeing you back at Engomi if only for a short season in the Autumn.
I enclose a copy of the order for the compulsory acquisition of the plots on which we agreed. Arbitration in such matters is often exceedingly slow and I do not imagine that in all cases the stage will be reached this year, where payments will have to be made. However the Government has made a provisional allocation of £350 to cover its share and it would perhaps be well for you to budget for a similar expenditure, toward which we have already a balance of £213.19.2 in your account.
Meanwhile the north quarter has been fenced and Yeorgho goes down from time to time to inspect and keep the watchman up to the mark. Incidentally I have heard nothing of his objection to Michaelis. I hope that it has been forgoteen and am sure you are right to proceed on the assumption that it has.
Yours sincerely,
