CONSULAR AGENCY OF FRANCE AT LARNACA (ISLAND OF CYPRUS)
French Republic
LARNACA, 15 October 1949
No.402
Telephone No.250

Dear Director,
I hasten to acknowledge receipt of your kind letter of the 13th, which has just been handed to me (17h.). As you wished, I am sending you the sum of £ 994.11.6, the amount of the telegraphic transfer made by the Consulate of France in Malta, by a cheque on the Barclays Bank No.C9/402877.
I am glad to learn of the fine result of your campaign and I heartily share your satisfaction. Nothing could please you more than to see emerge under the spade and pick of your workmen the remains of a city of which you were the only "discoverer". I would like to be able to take advantage of your very kind invitation and I will do everything possible to come to Enkomi-Alasia before your departure for Damascus. Perhaps I shall be able to come next Saturday afternoon. I will confirm this plan by telephone 48 hours beforehand.
I think you are still at the King George hotel. I think I shall have a good chance of reaching you on the phone if I call a little before mealtimes, especially in the evening.
Please accept, Director, the assurance of my very high consideration.
