Le Castel Blanc, 14 Rue Turgot, St. Germain-en-Laye, (Seine et Oise). 13 July 1949.

Sir Consul,

Mr Lapierre, consular agent at Larnaca, being about to go on leave, has informed me that you wish to communicate with me to regularise receipts relating to subsidies to the French Archaeological Mission of 1948. I am at your disposal either by correspondence at the address of the Direction Générale des Relations Culturelles, Ministère des Affaires Etrangères (for the attention of the Secretary General of the Commission des Fouilles, 78 rue de Lille, Paris, or on my return to Cyprus at the end of next August, address: c/o Service des Antiquités, Nicosia, or Barclays Bank, Famagusta.

You must meanwhile have received a notice from the same administration regarding a subsidy of 2.000 Cypriot pounds for the resumption of the excavations this summer. These will take place from the end of August. My two architects, MM. Pironin and Forrer, will arrive at Limassol with the Ionia, leaving Marseille on 20 August; I shall follow on the Corinthia of the 27th. I should be grateful if you would transfer the subsidy in question to my current account at the Barclays Bank, Famagusta. I will sign the receipts as you wish, either before my departure from here, if time still permits, the transmission to Paris before my departure, or at Nicosia or Famagusta if you would kindly send them to me in Cyprus.

I should be grateful if you would transfer the whole or part of the subsidy to Famagusta until 25 August, so that our work does not suffer any delay. I had sent you an article concerning our work of 1947; I enclose a copy here in case the offprint has not reached you.

Please accept, Sir Consul, the expression of my distinguished regards.
