DEPARTMENT OF ANTIQUITIES, NICOSIA.
23rd March, 1953
Dear Dr. Schaeffer,
Thank you for your letter of 15th March. I am glad to hear that the Enkomi bowl has arrived for its exhibition in the Louvre. I am sure you are glad to have this opportunity of seeing it in its transformed condition. I have already made arrangements for the Embassy to return it to London and for its onward despatch to Nicosia.
We will do what we can about Perimann's request, but as you know iron found in excavations here is usually in deplorable condition.
Your programme for Enkomi fits very well with my own plans, as I expect to be back from my home leave about the middle of October.
Our concluding campaign will be in June and July, where we aim at completing work both at the sanctuary and also in the north wall area, where the lower levels have yet to be examined.
Expert opinion on the script of Dikaios' tablet fragment now tends to assign it to the Cypro-Minoan group.
Yours sincerely,
