As your volume is published in English by another editor than the one Klincksieck, Imprimerie, it will not make therefore reach all the people & institutions who got my volume I of the combined expedition. It is therefore necessary to explain in your volume the relationship of the Department's excavations to the French Miss. and to make clear why Dik. is digging in a site discovered by me and the license of which is held by the French Mission. This needs to be said in a Preface. I thought you will ask me offer me this to write it as I who founded the combined expedition and invited you to share the work. I still hope hope you will do it and you can be assured that it would be done in the same friendly spirit which you noticed in my my the French volume volume (Introduction). There is another important point to be mentioned in the matter of concerning the Dep. Excav. & the report: You remember that Dik. & you during in a discussion with me in your curator's office, it was agreed upon that I can add a note note : )
