19 mai 1952.
Dear Mr. Megaw,
I hope you got my letters dated april 29th and mai 10 th with various items and also a parcel printed air matter, with the rest of the sheets of Enkomi-Alasia I.
To day I have packed for return to Nicosia with Pironin the stratified shards the study of which is finished and published in the volume now in your hands. They are 14 boxes (shoebox size) filling one leather suitcase and containing: shards point top. 91: 39 boxes 106: 22 boxes 63: 39 boxes, 2 papers and 2 single shards 110: 11 boxes and single shards 123: 4 boxes 126: 1 boxe 825: single shards 94: 13 boxes
In all 144 small boxes and one boxe single shards. The single shards are those which the photographer when he had finished the photograph not returned in one of the boxes by fear to mingle them up. They can of course all been identified with the help of the published photographs. Also if a mistake may have occurred when returning the shards into the boxes, they can be repaired by comparison with the photographs. All photographs have been made in my presence and there are no confusion possible. But when repacking there may have occurred a mistake. But it is not very probable. I only had no time now to verify the whole material before returning.
With the shards is returned the small terra cotte ball Enk.1950 Mr.5523, which had been forgotten last year being left with M.Masson who studied these balls.
There are about as many shards left here. They are not yet published and concern sections which have to be completed or fit to other sections which have to be drawn by Porter this season. Your permit dated october 14th 1950 for 5 years will expire before I shall have time to finish them. And so I am asking already now for permission to keep them until the next volume (vol.III of the comp.expedition) will be ready.
Fironin and a new assistant of mine M.Courtois will arrive at Limassol sept.11. on 55 Corinthia. They will carry with them the least suitcase with the shards. Please inform the customs accordingly.
Please give my kind regards to Mrs Megaw
Yours sincerely
