… to resume the excavations at Enkomi later in order to clear the town whose site I observed very near the cemetery. I spoke of this project to Gjerstad, but he told me that he will not be able to think of taking up Cyprus for the moment. My idea was to propose possibly a joint Franco-Swedish expedition. Gjerstad told me that the project perhaps interests you. The date of our new excavations at Enkomi is not yet fixed. Already I will not be able this year, nor for 1940, because in 1940, after my campaign at Enkomi, I will carry out a campaign of excavations in collaboration with the British School at Athens at Isopata in Crete with a view of finding tombs comparable to those with corbelled vaults at Kas Shaure. Enkomi and Cyprus should therefore wait until 1942. If Swedish participation in this research interests you we could perhaps discuss it on the occasion, either if you come to see me here, or if I return to Stockholm where I shall be with my wife in 1939.
