to resume the excavations at Enkomi later in order to uncover the town whose site I observed very near the cemetery. I spoke of this project to Gjerstad, but he told me that he will not be able to think of working on Cyprus for the moment. My idea was to possibly propose a joint Franco-Swedish expedition. Gjerstad told me that the project perhaps interests you. The date of my new excavations at Enkomi is not yet fixed. This will be neither for this year, nor for 1940, because in 1940, after my campaign at Ras Shamra, I will carry out an excavation campaign in collaboration with the British School at Athens at Isopata in Crete with a view to finding tombs comparable to those with corbelled vaults at Ras Shamra ment de Ras Shamra. Enkomi and Cyprus should therefore wait until 1941 or 1942. If a Swedish participation in this research interests you we could talk about it on the occasion, either if you come here once, or if I return to Stockholm where I enjoyed very much being with my wife in 1936.
