Dear Dr. Schaeffer,

Thank you for your letter of 22nd September. I have sent the revised communiqué you enclosed to the press.

I am glad that you have got your labour translated on lines which you find more satisfactory. I am glad also that the work has progressed so [illegible] since my visit.

It is kind of you to suggest that I should come down again when the Governor visits your excavations. I can assure you I am sure that he will invite me to accompany him.

I have now approached [illegible] on the proposal I explained in my letter of 18th Sept. [illegible] It is of a tentative character and I should welcome an opportunity of discussing other possibilities of collaboration. [illegible] your reply to Nicosia on completion of your present season's digging will perhaps be the best time.

Would you be so kind as to let me have in your direction [illegible] or wishes, and if [illegible] you will let me know [illegible] I will be able to [illegible] you have had from him [illegible].

Yours sincerely,
