Handwritten: Dear Dr Schaeffer,
Thank you for your letter of 22nd September. I have sent the revised communique' you enclosed to the press.
I am glad that you have got your labour force organised on lines which you find more satisfactory and that the work has progressed so well since my visit.
It is kind of you to suggest that I should come down again when the Governor visits your excavations. I am passing this suggestion on and expect that he will invite me to accompany him.
I note and appreciate your comments on the proposal I outlined in my letter of 18th September. It was, naturally, of a tentative character and I should welcome an opportunity of discussing other possibilities of collaboration. When you return to Nicosia on completion of your present season's digging would perhaps be the best time.
Dikaios expects to be out in your direction on Friday, and if he thinks he will be able to look you up I have asked him to let you know.
Handwritten: Yours sincerely,
