Printed: ENKOMI EXPEDITION
Ankara, 12 July 1946.
Dear friend,
My daughter's letter warned me of the arrival at St. Germain of your letter and of its contents : ... I received that your letter could transfer from its own means. I am glad to make his acquaintance and to have his assistance if he can help us at Enkomi.
I arrived here a few days ago and I hope to be on the site in a few days. It is planned for a short time because of the strikes in in Syria, but I shall not return beyond the end of August. We could then either by air or by boat without delay for Cyprus.
We shall therefore be ready to reopen the excavations at Enkomi from the beginning of September. Someone must then be sent to Enkomi, but I will not be able to return for the campaign, because I must finish the works from the million of October in order then to reopen the Ramses when the Syrians have left their record. At the beginning of November, I must leave Syria, to be back in Paris, we shall return, as I told you, the month, at the end of.
I would be glad to have news of you here, not Athens have been Embassy of France (Ankara).
Please accept my respectful homage and remembrances to Madame Dikaios and my cross, my dear friend.
