quality of the materials holds an exceptional place amongall the buildings excavated so far at Enkomi. Here I refer to certain important buildings cleared by Mr Schaeffer in the north area and that of the south, closer to the south enclosure of Enkomi, notably at the one he called "the Metiéon des Bronzes". The discovery in the lower phase, the one furthest from the south façade and the southern part of our building, of a bronze statue 15cm 35cm high representing xxxxx a God wearing a headdress with horns allows us to put forward the hypothesis that it is a temple dedicated to the cult of the god whose statue we have found. Other indications, in particular the goddessgreen of plaster of young bovids probably associated, in the rooms adjoining the one in which the statue was found, seeming to corroborate this hypothesis. But as I have already said, the clearing of the building is still at the preliminary stage and it is only when we can reach the deep layers that we shall be able to see whether the building was dedicated to the cult in its entirety or only in part.
