VI. MISCELLANEOUS FINDS
This section is a provisional description of certain important finds other than pottery discovered in rooms, the contents of which have not been described in this report. I shall have to revert to them in future reports when their ceramic context have been fully studied.
Two ivory gaming boards.(Pl. LXX,3-4). These were [handwritten: (= VU ...)] found in room XXVII below the original floor of our building in a pit ..162... deep with sides lined with stones , where they were thrown together with broken pottery. The first o of the two, which is the more important as it is decorated with engraved naturalistic patterns, was found in the pit with all the component parts in their original position , as illustrated on Pl. LXX,3. The parts of the second were found loose but it has been possible to reconstruct it after the first example.
The first example (Pl. LXX,3) is 17 cms long and 8,2 cms wide and is composed of two long plaques between which is a row of six small rectangular plaques with at the centre a rectangular space equal in size to the small plaques and containing two concentric rectangles each
