… century. Evidence pointing to a similar hiatus before the erection of the Main Building has already been noted in room X.
Floor V, which rests on the fill and is the first good floor of the room, is formed by a thick layer of lime-marl. It is approximately at the level of floor V in the Main Building and is the floor on which the conflagration and the subsequent alterations took place (supra p.....). The only pottery found on this floor is a Mycenean II or III fragment (146 on Pl. I, 5). The presence of this earlier sherd in a context not earlier than Mycenean IIIC: 1 recalls the discovery in room XIV of Mycenean IIIB fragments overlying the hearth in the construction of which Mycenean IIIC fragments were used.
The layer between floor V and IV shows typical IIIC III pottery: a few fragments of white slip II (144 b on Pl. I, 6) and decorated IIIC III (144 d on Pl. I, 6). It also contains one fragment of Mycenean IIIC: 1 were with double wavy line (144 e on Pl. I, 6). Mycenean IIIC: 2 cooked only a stirrup seal (153 on Pl. I, 14). the shape of which recalls the Philistine seal]:
