The kiln wall itself is preserved to m height. It is laid of for the most part entirely unworked stones without any visible preserved mortar. In the upper earth fill inside the kiln a few stones are found lying loose evidently fallen from the wall. At a level of c 0,15 m above the base the earth changes abruptly. At the entrance and the half of the kiln nearest to it follows a black ash and soot layer which, with discernible horizontal stratification, extends to the floor. The horizontal layers are however not continuous. They are interpreted as remains from different firing occasions. In the innermost half of the kiln there is a layer which rises obliquely towards the wall. This layer is extremely hard, almost sulphur-coloured. Earth samples are taken from this layer as well as from the others. Between the stones at b and c no, or only indistinct, ash earth is observed.
