Glyptic (A.I. 2646)

Glyptic from Ayia Irini: a stone object with dark and pale bands, seen from the side — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Csn3921. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A rounded object with a domed upper outline and a flatter lower edge fills the centre of the picture against a plain pale background. Its surface shows dark bands curving across pale areas, with a dark patch on the right and a worn, slightly broken lower right edge. The image is soft and blurred, and the object sits on a pale card with a thin border.
