Glyptic

Blurred photograph of a stone scarab on a pale card mount — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Csn3916. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A single dark, rounded object fills most of the frame, shown in close view against a pale card. Its outline is oval, with a notch at the left end and a central groove running along the body, and its surface is mottled with light and dark patches. The photograph is out of focus, so the carved details cannot be read.
